Bathroom and Nursery Sneak Peek!

We are working away on the house and I wanted to give you a sneak peek of what’s going into it. I will take pictures of the progress soon, but I’m staying away from upstairs for now because it is pretty smelly and Peanut is just like her momma in that she doesn’t like things that smell funky. We should be closer to the final touches after next weekend and I’ll keep you all posted on pictures as we get there.

Here are some things we have picked out for the bathroom. The blue/gray subway tile is in the shower and around the tub deck. The white glass/stone/marble tile is the accent tile for the shower and tub deck (I could only find scraps left so this picture doesn’t do it justice). The granite is what we are having installed next Thursday and the dark wood chair they are all sitting on is very close to our cabinets.

Thanks to my amazing parents we were able to get these very cool fixtures.

Bathtub is complete with an airbath (similar to jets) and a mood light!

Nursery! We have painted the nursery – but right now it’s serving as the storage room for a lot of things, so it’s hard to get a good picture, but I wanted to post a picture of a few things to give an idea of how it’s going to come together. The walls are a light gray and all of the furniture is white.

I’m really excited about the bedding I ordered, it goes with the pink, yellow, gray theme.

The changing table/dresser was my great grandpa Rice’s workbench that my mom re-finished when I was a baby and it was my dresser growing up. Another awesome treasure we can pass down to Peanut. As you can see it’s covered with plastic from painting and squished with other furniture.

The rocking chair is a family heirloom – it was my great grandma Rice’s chair that she rocked all of her grandchildren in. My parents had it refinished and re-upholstered for Peanut. We are so thankful to have this piece.

This picture is a more accurate color of the chair.

Here is a picture of the crib – I love the white furniture. Kris surprised me with this for Christmas!

This is a picture of our curtains, the polka dots are actually much lighter in person. They are chenille dots so have a really neat texture.

Catching Up – Christmas, House, and Belly Pictures

Wow, so much has happened since the last time I posted a couple weeks ago. We had a great Christmas in Denver with Kris’s family. I got to do lots of baking with Kris’s mom (I couldn’t get enough of her muddy buddies and Kris got to enjoy his favorite Mexican wedding cake cookies). We were also lucky enough to be in town for one of Hannah’s basketball games. While we were in Denver our good friends Sara and Jake welcomed a new baby boy to their family (3 days after hosting their annual Christmas party!). We were thrilled we got to meet him and spend some time with his big brother Sawyer.

While we were gone our contractor made some good progress on the house. Peanut’s nursery is almost ready to be painted and the bathroom is ready for the tile. We are hoping the remodel will be wrapped up in a month. Here are some pictures of what it looks like now.

When we got home from Denver we got straight to work on the house. While I cleaned the dry wall dust off of the floors, counters, and furniture – Kris was scaling the roof cleaning off the moss and installing zinc strips to prevent future moss growth.

Peanut has been growing a lot these last couple of weeks – and so has my belly! I am now 24 weeks and feeling great. I have experienced a few Charlie horses and aches, but really feel amazing and love being pregnant. I also love that my belly is showing and people are now able to tell that I am obviously pregnant. She has been moving around a lot and Kris can even feel her now! I love when she moves – it’s incredible to feel the amazing bundle of joy that is growing inside of me – we are already madly in love with her. Here are the latest belly pictures.

Our new house!

We have moved into our new house and couldn't be happier. The remodel has begun so we are living completely downstairs until the upstairs renovations are finished (hopefully by Christmas or soon after). We are so blessed to have so many people helping us. We moved in just one day with the help of some great friends and have huge help with the remodel. Below are some pictures of a couple rooms in the house - note that we are still unpacking and putting things away. :-) I will post pictures of the other rooms, upstairs, and yard soon - the yard is huge (a whole acre!) and really calming. The setting is so neat because we are in a neighborhood but feel like we are camping in the mountains with the fresh air, quiet, and big trees. We have a fire pit, so you all need to come over to roast some marshmallows!

Entry way - down the hall is Kris' office, the guest room / craft room, bathroom, and laundry room. Living room with white shutters.

Living room and our treasured Bruno painting. We are going to be putting stone all the way up the fireplace (and getting rid of the current tile) and also adding a mantel. This paint color took me two extra trips to the paint store to get it just right... they darkened it twice for me and added some red to balance out the green (even though green is my favorite color!).
Living room - tv view. We will be filling in the little archway in the coming weeks. I love the white cabinets on both sides of the fireplace.
Dining room - can't wait to put pictures on the wall, but I really can't wait until we have a high chair in this room. :-)
Some pictures of our new kitchen, I love all of the cabinet space. I picked a blue/green color for the walls - it's fun to be able to pick color out for the house (but not as easy as I would have thought!).

The much-needed and amazing pantry that Kris built for me. Thanks babe!
Our new washer and dryer (laundry just got much more fun)!

Remodel

We have been busy! We closed on our house last week and dove right into our remodel. My parents flew up to help us for the weekend and what a HUGE help they have been! I can't even begin to thank them enough. After meeting with our contractor on Saturday Kris and my dad went to work on the demo. I have never heard two grown men laugh, hoot, and holler so much. It was like kids in a candy store. One of them would slam the hammer into the wall, a big thud would vibrate the upstairs, and they would burst out laughing. It was pretty awesome. They completed the entire demo in two days, wow! While they were ripping out walls, floors, and tile - my mom and I were taping the downstairs in preparation for painting. My mom was kind enough to tape all of the hard to reach places for me and clean out all of the kitchen cabinets.

Kris has been busy painting all week, he is working so hard! Less than two weeks we will be living in our new house, yay!

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

The doorway that we want to move.

The bathroom the boys ripped out... it's looking better already!

Dad hard at work, he seriously knows how to do everything!

Kris ripping out the wall like a pro!
Mom taping the kitchen, she was so sweet to get all of those hard to reach places!
