15 months!
Finley has officially reached toddlerhood and she seems to be taking to it like a pro. I love watching her explore and taking the time to see the world through her eyes. A simple walk is so much more fascinating with her… a pinecone, a dandelion, the texture of gravel, the vibrant colors in flowers, the smell of grass, it’s a whole new world. She is now walking everywhere and with that milestone came a whole new sense of independence, assertiveness, and curiosity. I love the strong person that she is. I am amazed at how fast she is learning and understanding – it seems she learns a new thing each day. Here are just some of the things she is doing at 15 months:
When I say “how high is the sky” she excitedly does this…
She loves giving kisses and now she blows kisses too… and I can’t stop asking her to do it because it’s so darn cute!
She signs “please” when she wants something (and also does “all done” “thank you” and “milk”… that’s about all I’ve taught her).
You can see her rubbing her chest – that’s the sign for please. I love watching her point to something she wants and then quickly signing “please” over and over to make sure I see.
Anytime there is music on or if I even start to sing anything, Finley is dancing away. If she is sitting she will start rocking back and forth, if she is standing she will either “shimmy” or shake her body. If we say “shake” or “dance” she will start moving her whole body with all sorts of dance moves. Cutest thing ever! And if we leave Kris’s office door open, it doesn’t take long for her make her way to his guitars and start strumming. We definitely have a budding musician on our hands!
She also loves to say “uh oh” when she drops something and is very interested in belly buttons. She will follow instructions when we ask her to get a certain toy (favorites are her purse, doll, and keys). She LOVES playing with the dryer and knows how to turn it on. She thinks it’s hysterical when we chase her and say “I’m going to get you.” She runs as fast as her little legs will go. She is still in love with dogs and points to the neighbor’s house each time she hears them. One day, sweet Finley, we will get you a dog!
She has lots of boyfriends
She loves to throw anything and everything into the bathtub, turn on the water and run out of the bathroom as fast as possible. Silly girl.
She recently discovered the awesomeness that is toilet paper.
She lights up every room.
When you raise your eyebrows, she tries to copy by squinting her eyes.
She loves to watch Sesame Street and Blues Clues… don’t judge, it’s how I’m actually able to make dinner and take a shower! She especially loves watching while sitting in her pink cruiser (thanks Aunt Jen!). She honks the horn when you say “beep beep” and says “vroooooom” when you push her around in it.
She begs for soda, but that’s one thing I don’t give in and give her. Daddy sneaks in a few sips of his ginger ale every once in a while and she thinks that is pretty special!
She waves when we leave, when we enter the room, when she hears “bye” or “hi.” She also waves at anyone who will look at her at the grocery store. She is a lil social butterfly!
She snaps and claps when asked to – and anytime she hears “yay!” she will start clapping
Her favorite place to be is outside, preferably in a swing or with some water.
And although she is growing up so quickly, she will always be our little baby. That is probably why I find sweetness in the moments where she sneaks in a binky when she’s not supposed to or why I still let her enjoy an occasional bottle.
And up until 15 months she hasn’t been a big eater, but this last month she has shown a whole new interest in food. That makes for one happy mama!
Sweet Finley Mae, thank you for filling our lives with giggles and smiles. You make even the rainy days seem bright!
