digital scrapbooking

I have always loved scrapbooking. I have spent many nights sprawled out on the floor with my pictures, papers, scissors, stickers and glue putting my memories and creativity to work. I had grand plans of creating a beautiful scrapbook for Finley. Problem is that I need time, lots of it to create what I had envisioned. And Finley loves helping me with whatever I’m working on, but I’m just not ready to let her join me in the scrapbooking projects just yet. I was getting so sad when I would look at her book and see just five pages completed… she is 14 months old and I only have FIVE pages documented, and that only covers the part where she was in the hospital! So I was beyond thrilled when I came across this post on digital scrapbooking. I was amazed at how nice and “real” the scrapbook pages looked and to think each page only took minutes to create… no mess, no glue, no paper scraps to pick up. I downloaded Picasa and gave it a try. I love it! Picasa is such a great program to edit and organize photos with and the collage function is perfect for creating a scrapbook page. It allows me to write as much as I want on the page and it still looks “neat” and I can make room for any things that I have saved to glue into the book. I also downloaded some really cool FREE fonts from this site and FREE scrapbook papers to get started from here. Although you can get creative and make your own scrapbook papers or just use colored backgrounds in Picasa itself. Hope this is helpful for those of you thinking about diving into digital scrapbooking, I’d love to see any pages you create! Here is just a sample of some of mine (they aren’t all finished but gives you an idea of the different things you can do)…
