10 months
My sweet baby girl is almost 11 months old, where has the time gone? Usually January seems to go by so slooowwwly but this year it seemed to have come and gone in an instant. I guess that’s what happens when you are chasing a baby around :-) Finley is really growing up so fast. Just today I was looking at her and realizing there is more toddler than baby in her. She is a curious little explorer and has investigated every inch of our house. I love just following her around to see what she is going to check out. She likes to be by my side so she stops and checks to make sure I am nearby before she ventures too far. Her favorite things to crawl to are the vents (I think she likes the warm air blowing from them) and she LOVES Kris’s electric guitar (must be the colors and nobs on it). She is obsessed with climbing on the oven, the handle is at the perfect height for her – I am working quickly to teach her that is not okay. Today I gave her a wooden spoon and she played with it for a good 20 minutes, which is an eternity in baby attention span time! She was the same way when I gave her spaghetti noodles. She stared at them, squished them in her hands, twirled them on her tray and very cautiously put them in her mouth. It was the cutest thing. I have been working hard to teach her how to clap. I’m not sure why, but it’s been a big deal for me. Well today she did it! She’s been getting close, waving her hands when I start to clap, but today she actually made movements that I could officially call a clap and Kris was even home to witness all of our hard work!
Finley is not a huge fan of her bottle (she’d rather play), we struggle to get the minimum of 16 oz a day. This week she’s been averaging 20 which is wonderful! She usually has 4 bottles a day – one when she wakes up, one at her first naptime (about 10am), another in the afternoon (and sometimes there is a nap during that time) and then the last one at bedtime. Although if she isn’t eating well I end up offering her a bottle every hour. The good news is she LOVES finger foods. If I try to feed her baby food she bats it away immediately but I can put any finger foods on her plate and she’ll give it a try. She loves to feed herself. I’m pretty sure she puts more on the floor than in her mouth, but she always tries what is offered to her. Her favorite foods at the moment are shredded chicken, cheese cheese and more cheese, peas (she hated baby food peas but loves cooked peas), avocado and cottage cheese, toast with cream cheese, broccoli, pears, pasta, ground beef with tomato sauce and she loves fried tofu.
She has four teeth right now with two more coming in. These last two have been bothering her at night so her sleep has been a little off but it’s starting to get much better. She loves to go shopping with me – I put her in the shopping cart and she kicks her legs and smiles at everyone we walk past. She is so full of life and always so happy. I just love her to pieces.
